Governance and Compliance

Anne-Marie Poitras is Vice President of Governance and Compliance at Desjardins Capital. As such, she is particularly responsible for the governance of corporate partners in which a minority or majority equity stake has been taken. She also coordinates the selection, appointment, and evaluation of external directors named to sit on these SMEs’ boards.

Ms. Poitras is Corporate Secretary for all of the funds under management, including the public fund Capital régional et coopératif Desjardins. She is also responsible for all governance and ethics issues, as well as overseeing regulatory compliance activities.

Lastly, Ms. Poitras oversees activities targeting shareholders of Capital régional et coopératif Desjardins.

She joined the Desjardins team in 2013, as Director of SME Governance.

Ms. Poitras began her career in property insurance, at the largest insurer in Québec. She then became owner and vice president of the firm Poitras, Larue, Rondeau, which later became Univesta Insurance and Financial Services.

Ms. Poitras has thorough expertise in regulations and issues of governance and compliance in the financial sector, having particularly been part of the first management team of the Autorité des marchés financiers from 2003 to 2010, where she served as superintendent of client assistance and compensation. She was also a board member of the Collège des administrateurs de sociétés from 2005 to 2010.

With a bachelor in law and soon a graduate degree in applied ethics from the University of Sherbrooke, Ms. Poitras is a board member of the Maison Théâtre and Éditions Protégez-Vous. She is also a member of the strategic committee of the Institut de la confiance dans les organisations. In 2007, she got her degree in business administration from the Collège des administrateurs de sociétés and has been a bar member since 1993.
